UNL Reaffirmed as CFA Program Partner School

The CFA Institute reaffirmed the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as a CFA Program Partner school, continuing the partnership established in 2008. The network of 153 CFA Program Partners extends across the globe, with only 36 partner schools located within the United States.

CFA Program Partners are high profile universities of global stature that embed a significant percentage of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) into their programs, including the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

“Students taking the CFA track of the finance major at UNL gain traction within the global community and take classes that prepare them for a career in the investments field. In addition students study The CFA Institute Code of Ethics which is the standard that helps to create unified professional values within the industry,” said Dr. Richard DeFusco, professor of finance.

Senior finance and economics major Blade Jacobson from Thompson Falls, Montana, said, "The CFA designation is becoming the competitive standard among investment professionals in our generation. The UNL CFA track option allowed me to differentiate my undergraduate curriculum with rigorous finance and accounting courses, and real-world skills for the workplace.”

Students pursuing a degree in finance are eligible to apply for the CFA Investments Option. The CFA track is composed of a core of finance requirements including courses specifically designed to be relevant to the current financial industry which cover at least 70 percent of the CBOK included in the Level I, II and III CFA examinations.

“Beyond the curriculum, being a program partner grants us access to statistical service reports, showing pass rates and average scores for consenting students. Worldwide on average, about 43 percent of those who take the Level 1 exam pass. The partnership provides us with the opportunity to nominate students for CFA scholarships, of which we can nominate 15 students per year, and gives them access to an online sample exam. Complimentary access to publications and webcasts is also included,” explained DeFusco. “For our students, earning a degree under the CFA track option sets them apart from their peers and prepares them for success.”
