Thompson and Irwin-Gish Discuss CBA News on KLIN Grow Lincoln Program

Dr. Eric Thompson, director of the Bureau of Business Research (BBR) and Sheri Irwin-Gish, executive director of communications and marketing for the UNL College of Business Administration both appeared recently on KLIN’s Grow Lincoln radio program.

Irwin-Gish talked about the approval of the new 240,000 square foot CBA building facility.

“We think there’s a great need for it because this year we have had a 25.4% increase in our freshmen and a 15.8% increase in our transfers,” Irwin-Gish said. “We’re growing and we need more room.”

Irwin-Gish noted the increase is particularly significant given the fact that a recent Wall Street Journal article noted how many business schools across the country are struggling with enrollment issues.

Thompson discussed his most recent Leading Economic Indicator for Nebraska (LEI-N), which is a monthly report produced by the BBR that predicts future economic conditions in the state.

“The last two months the LEI-N has been turning up,” Thompson said. “The economy is growing slow now, but this suggests that by December, January, February the economy will be back to a moderate rate of growth.”

The monthly LEI-N report is released by the BBR the third Friday of each month. For more information visit the BBR website at http:bbr.unl.edu.
