The Consortium for the Advancement of Research Methods and Analysis (CARMA) offers the first short course of 2017 at the University of South Australia in Adelaide, Australia from March 20-24, 2017. Two sessions feature courses with Dr. Larry Williams, director of CARMA and professor of management from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and Dr. Robert Vandenberg, Robert O. Arnold Professor of Business from the University of Georgia.

Williams presents “Introduction to Research Methods,” in Session I, which lasts two-and-a-half days starting Monday, March 20. The presentation begins with an overview of the research process typically used in organizational research. He further studies how constructs and their measurements are considered, including introductory coverage of both reliability and validity. Consideration of experiment and non-experiment design follows, as well as an introduction to data analysis tools, including descriptive statistics analysis.

Session II starts the afternoon of Wednesday, March 22 with Vandenberg’s presentation “Introduction to Multilevel Analysis.” He provides introductory coverage of multilevel modeling using the MPlus statistical software package. The course provides an overview of multilevel studies and gives examples of observed variables. Participants engage in running models based on Vandenberg’s teaching. The session concludes at the end of the day Friday.
