School of Accountancy Alum Dr. Scott Jackson Awarded Greatest Impact on Practice

Dr. Scott Jackson, who received his Ph.D. in accounting from the UNL College of Business Administration School of Accountancy in 1997, recently was selected to receive the 2012 Greatest Impact on Practice award for his research titled “The effect of firms’ depreciation method choice on managers’ capital investment decisions.” The article was published in the March 2008 edition of The Accounting Review.

The Greatest Impact on Practice award award  is given by the Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association.

Jackson has been on the faculty at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina since 2002, and prior to that spent five years at the University of Texas-San Antonio. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate level classes in financial and managerial accounting. His research focuses on areas of earning management, accounting choice, compensation and taxation.

Prior to receiving his Ph.D. at UNL, Jackson received his undergraduate and master's degrees from San Diego State University, and also worked at Fortune 500 firm, Price Waterhouse.
