To say that the last three months have flown by would be an understatement. I have greatly enjoyed meeting with alumni and business community members, and the insight I have gained has been invaluable. Though a part of CBA for more than 20 years, I now have a new perspective on the broad range of education, services and events provided by the college. I want to share a few highlights and hope you will consider attending some of the events yet to come.
 
In late February, the Undergraduate Women in Business hosted the third annual Women in Business Conference for student and business leaders. Nearly 300 attendees came to the event in snowy weather to discuss and celebrate innovation, fittingly at Nebraska Innovation Campus. Many business leaders presented sessions and Angie Klein, vice president of marketing for new product innovation at Verizon, delivered the keynote. You can read more about her in the Alumni Feature.

The University Business and Liberal Arts Career Fair brought together nearly 900 students and more than 150 prospective employers on February 22. Held at Pinnacle Bank Arena, the event provides students direct access to recruiters from companies across the country.
 
Undergraduate students have the opportunity to gain real-world experience at two CASE Competitions held at CBA. They examine practical problems and present their solutions to the managers of Union Pacific on March 31 and Target on April 7. Graduate students gain experience in the ACG Cup, also a CASE Competition, on April 7. As is tradition, they compete against teams from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Creighton University and Bellevue University.
 
The Bureau of Business Research will present a webinar about highway spending in a rural state, such as Nebraska. Offered from 12-1 p.m. on March 31, Dr. Eric Thompson, economist and director of the BBR, will discuss the influence of highway spending on economic development and approaches to providing funding. In March, Dr. Emre Unlu, took on the additional role of executive director of executive education. Unlu, associate professor of finance and Paul C. Burmeister Professor of Investments, has put together a strong Power Lunch series in May and June. Also, check out the certificate programs offered yet this spring, including the fully online, self-paced Lean Management and Decision Making Certificate Program and the Leadership Excellence Executive Certificate Program offered May 10-12. These are open enrollment programs and costs can be found on the certificate program webpages listed on the Executive Education website. 
 
The School of Accountancy and Department of Finance will be offering Executive Insights – a panel discussion for all students and the business community on Thursday, April 13 from 4-6 p.m. The C-suite panelists include Andrea Gronenthal, partner, U.S. leader, tax performance advisory at Ernst & Young; Tom Henning, chairman, president and CEO of Assurity Inc.; Michael Johnson, associate director of Accenture; and Jane Miller, chief operating officer and executive vice president at The Gallup Organization.
