Fischer and Davidson Present Seminar at University of Texas-Arlington

Dr. Tammie Fischer, Director of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center for Economic Education and Jennifer Davidson, M.Ed., Director of Programs and Community Development for the Nebraska Council on Economic Education, will presented a faculty seminar through The Texas Faculty Collaboratives College and Career Readiness Initiative last month.   The Texas Faculty Collaboratives provide Institutes of Higher Education with resources and professional development on K-12 college and career readiness standards.

Dr. Fischer was invited as the keynote speaker for her work in precollege economic education and preparation of undergraduates as future economics teachers. Dr. Fischer’s syllabuses for her undergraduate Principles of Economics courses are recognized nationally as a model for teacher preparation in economics. Tammie and Jennifer will be joined by Dr. Toby Boss, Director of Professional Development for the Educational Service Unit #6 in Nebraska in the seminar. Dr. Boss is a graduate of the Economics Fellows Institute sponsored by the Nebraska Council on Economic Education.

The topic of the seminar was “Change and Continuity of Economic Systems and Processes.”  Topics for discussion were: teacher preparation in economics, economic education resources, engagement strategies, and integrating economic concepts throughout the social science curriculum.
