Elaine Ji and Emma Vavricka Awarded NRC Scholarships

UNL College of Business Administration marketing students Elaine Ji and Emma Vavricka were awarded the annual National Research Corporation (NRC) Rising Stars Scholarship. The scholarship rewards students with an interest in business development, marketing and entrepreneurship. Each recipient received $2,000 to be applied toward their tuition and fees during the spring 2013 semester.

Ji is a senior marketing major from Suzhou, China, who has been involved in many college activities as a business student. She is president of the CBA student ambassador program and has worked for both the Undergraduate Programs office and the Communications and Marketing office. Her goal is to pursue a career in marketing research and graphic design.

“NRC has been involved with our college so I was able to get to know the company and several of their employees before my scholarship interview,” Ji said. “This scholarship will not only assist me financially, it will also help me build a stronger resume."

Vavricka is a junior marketing major from Hildreth, Neb. She is currently a sales intern at Sandhills Publishing in Lincoln. Vavricka enjoys the challenge of working with new people and looks to define her career path through personal experiences. She would eventually like to work in sales in the medical field.

“I am so honored to be a recipient of the NRC Rising Stars Scholarship,” Vavricka said. “It will be a big help next summer when I study abroad through the UNL Oxford program.”
