Dr. Seth Giertz Featured in Omaha World-Herald Midlands Voices Column

In a recent Omaha World-Herald Midlands Voices opinion column, Dr. Seth Giertz, assistant professor of economics at CBA, presented his view that simply raising taxes on the wealthy may not be a solution to our current economic downturn.

Giertz contended that Omaha investor and philanthropist, Warren Buffett's recent statements that wealthy citizens should now be taxed at a higher rate, doesn't paint a complete picture when it comes to why new taxes may not be the best answer.

Giertz, who previously served as a tax analyst for the Congressional Budget Office for seven years and also served on President George W. Bush's advisory panel on federal tax reform, joined the UNL College of Business in 2008 and has expertise in social security, pubic financing, as well as a variety of tax issues.
