Dr. Roger Butters and Dr. Eric Thompson Appear on "Grow Lincoln" Radio Show

Dr. Roger Butters and Dr. Eric Thompson of the economics department recently appeared on KLIN radio's "Grow Lincoln" radio program to discuss recent and upcoming activities.

Butters, who serves as President of the Nebraska Council on Economic Education, talked about the unique nature of the center to the citizens of Nebraska.

"The College of Business is unique in many respects," Butters said. "There are not many Universities that actually host a center that reaches out to the K-12 system to make sure that economic literacy is available to children of all ages."

He emphasized the support that the Nebraska Council on Economic Education gives to help teachers.

"Our focus is the teacher. If you give teachers the tool kits they need, they're going to deliver value in the classroom every day for their entire career."

Butters also stressed the importance of giving students an incentive to learn through the many economic competitions that the center hosts throughout the year. He related the dynamic to student competitions in athletics.

"We give kids a reason to memorize their economic playbook."

Thompson, director of the Bureau of Business Research, talked about the most recent Leading Economic Indicator report released by the BBR in April.
