Bryan Slone Joins CBA as Executive in Residence

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Koley Jessen law firm in Omaha announce that Bryan Slone, recently a candidate in the primary race for Nebraska governor, will take positions with both organizations. Prior to entering the Nebraska governor's race in 2013, Slone was managing partner of Deloitte's Omaha office where he was responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the firm.

Slone joins the College of Business Administration at UNL this fall as the first executive in residence in the School of Accountancy. Slone, also a licensed attorney, has also been hired to an Of Counsel position with Koley Jessen where he will lead the law firm's tax practice group and conduct a government affairs practice.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Slone practiced for eight years in the Washington, D.C. office of Wilmer, Cutler and Pickering law firm (now the 1,000-attorney Wilmer Hale firm) where he served domestic and international clients and was co-founding partner of the first U.S. law firm office in the former East Berlin following the unification of Germany.

"Bryan's extensive experience in tax, accounting and government affairs will be an asset to our attorneys and, especially, to our clients," said Mike Hupp, president of Koley Jessen. "We are thrilled to have someone of Bryan's caliber join our law firm.”

The Executive in Residence program integrates senior executives into the life of the College of Business Administration. Slone will teach four courses a year that reflect his accounting expertise. He will also work closely with students by speaking to student groups and providing unique one-on-one sessions where he will advise accounting students on collegiate, internship and career plans. He will also work to enrich business connections for both faculty and students.

"We are pleased to have a nationally known accounting professional like Bryan Slone at the College of Business Administration as our executive in residence. His experience, specifically in the tax area, will be beneficial to our students, the School of Accountancy and CBA," said Aaron Crabtree, interim director of the School of Accountancy and associate professor of accountancy.
