The 2021 New Venture Competition is a celebration of entrepreneurial learning and competition. Hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center for Entrepreneurship, this competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students, including those enrolled in the online MBA program. Team composition may vary so long as the lead presenter is currently enrolled at Nebraska or has graduated in the semester prior to the competition. Special exceptions will be made this year in order to allow for participants who may not fit the current criteria but were eligible and intended to compete in the 2020 NVC that was canceled due to the pandemic. To be eligible for the grand prize, the winning team must feature a student with 51% ownership of the venture and also be a registered entity with the State of Nebraska.
This year's competition has been moved to a virtual format and will take place entirely online. Judges will be asked to evaluate four presentations during each round of competition. Each presentation will last no longer than 15 minutes and will be followed by 10 minutes of Q&A with the judges. Then, judges will deliberate and choose one team or business plan to advance to the next round. All participants will have an opportunity to re-join the room for a 10-minute feedback session with the judges.
