To qualify for College of Business scholarships, business students must:
Apply for Current Undergraduate Student Scholarships on your MyRED.
The deadline is February 1 of every year.
To determine your eligibility for need-based scholarships, you must complete the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Current Undergraduate Student Scholarship Application (as noted above) as well as a current FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). For questions regarding this process, please refer to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid website. Scholarships are awarded to the best-matched, need-based applicant based on results of the FAFSA and Current Undergraduate Student Scholarships application.
There are several College of Business departmental-specific scholarships that are awarded through the Current Undergraduate Student Scholarships application process. Some departments, however, have scholarships with a separate application/selection process. You will be notified of these opportunities throughout the year and you may wish to check the departmental website for further information.
In addition to general scholarships offered by the College, businesses and professional organizations award scholarships to business students, ranging between $500 and $2,500 per year. You must complete the résumé portion of the Current Undergraduate Student Scholarships application to be considered for most of these scholarships.
Other scholarships are periodically announced throughout the year by private organizations such as Farm Credit Services of America, the Nebraska Realtors Association, and the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce. Announcements for these scholarships are made via the college social media sites (Facebook, Twitter), flyers on digital screens and bulletin boards, and handouts in various department offices. Separate applications and deadlines may apply.
The College of Business has scholarships available specifically for study abroad experiences. To be considered for College of Business study abroad scholarships, students should complete the “Basic Scholarship Application” on MyWorld through the Nebraska Education Abroad website. All business students who apply for study abroad scholarships will be considered based on meeting individual scholarship qualifications, participating in a Nebraska sponsored study abroad program, and having at least a 2.5 GPA.
The College of Business awards a limited number of scholarships to incoming freshman. Incoming students who apply to Nebraska by the January 15 scholarship deadline, who declare a business major, and who are accepted to attend Nebraska are automatically included in the pool for New-Student Scholarships.
Our Guarantee – The College will guarantee scholarship funding for your remaining time in the College of Business as long as you reapply each year and meet the application and qualification requirements (item #1 above) and have a 3.7 cumulative grade point average (or higher) at the end of the spring semester.
Scholarship funding is made possible through the generous giving of our college donors. A majority of these dollars are dedicated to students who demonstrate their ability to perform in the Nebraska academic environment. Transfer students will need to have been enrolled and completed a semester of course work in order to become eligible for College of Business specific scholarships.

Any renewal indications from a previous year, require you reapply for Current Undergraduate Student Scholarships and maintain a 3.7 cumulative GPA. You may not necessarily receive the same scholarship or the same funding amount; however, as long as you apply and have maintained the GPA through the Spring semester, funding will be made the next year.
Distribution of most scholarships is made over the two semesters—fall and spring. Exceptions are made for study abroad and for some of the business/professional scholarships. With the exception of these, most scholarships require you be enrolled full-time for BOTH semesters to receive your scholarship and award amounts will be adjusted if you graduate mid-year. Awards will appear on MyRED and be deducted from your student bill. Any refunds will be disbursed to you from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA). For additional information please visit OSFA.
Donors specify that awards be made to full-time students. Your scholarship will be dropped if you change to part-time status.
Donors specify full-time enrollment for almost all of our scholarships. Mid-semester graduates will receive half of the yearly amount allocated.
All available funding is used to make scholarship awards. If you forgot to apply, and you meet Our Guarantee criteria as well as qualifications, you can direct a request for consideration by submitting your resume, your request, and qualification summary through Ask an Advisor beginning August 1.
